Alburgh Passage Bridge undertaking set for winter 2024 completion

Vermont Company of Transportation VTrans will proceed bridge deck substitute of Mom’s Bridge over Lake Champlain between North Hero Island and South Alburg. Site visitors impacts shall be restricted to an occasional one-way alternating visitors sample underneath flagger management for the rest of the 2022 development season.

Throughout the 2023 development season, the visitors sample throughout the bridge will include full-time alternating one lane visitors regulated by non permanent visitors indicators.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

The contractor will proceed putting in shielding on the underside of the bridge from barges positioned within the water. Set up of the shielding underneath the bridge is roughly 50% full. 

The shielding shall be used to catch particles as soon as demolition actions start.

Work on the underside of the bridge will proceed for a number of extra weeks.

LOCATION: Roughly 0.2 miles east of the intersection of US Route 2 with VT Route 129 within the City of North Hero.

PROJECTED COMPLETION: Winter 2024

NOTICE TO MARINERS:

VERMONT – LAKE CHAMPLAIN – REVIERE RICHELIEU TO SOUTH HERO ISLAND –Bridge Repairs – In preparation for bridge deck substitute of Mom’s Bridge over Lake Champlain between North Hero Island, VT and South Alburg, VT shielding shall be put in on the underside of the bridge beginning September 26, 2022. The shielding and related work platforms will scale back the vertical clearance of the channel by a most of 1.5 ft and the horizontal clearance by 9.0 ft. Building barges shall be on scene conducting the work however shall be moored out of the channel after hours.

Pink and inexperienced buoys shall be positioned to advise mariners of the navigational channel by means of the development space. Set up of the shielding shall be accomplished by mid-November 2022. Questions could also be directed to Mr. Dustin Franke, Challenge Supervisor at (518) 603-4952 or Cale Gleason at (518) 378-9619.  Mariners are suggested to plan their transits accordingly and train warning when transiting the realm.
